IN MEMORIAM: ANGELA LEPORE
In December 2017 we sadly lost one of our most ardent supporters and dear friend, Angela Lepore. Angela was the wife of our long-time Board Member and Chairman for many years, Don Lepore.
Angela was an advocate for little children and helped us pursue our mission of providing every preschooler, regardless of their family's ability to pay, a good start in life in one of our 5 full day childcare centers. In addition and through her support, hundreds of financially disadvantaged school aged children were given the opportunity to attend our summer camp. Angela was an active YMCA volunteer since the opening of our Horsehill Road location in 1981 and steadfastly supported our Annual Campaign. Her love of children and our organization will reverberate for years to come.
In her memory, Don Lepore and their children have established a scholarship fund to support two nine week scholarships to our summer camp program for deserving youngsters from Deirdre's House. The fund will also distribute three scholarships annually to preschool teachers exhibiting that special love and devotion to young children, something Angela so admired.
