Dear Members,
We are excited to announce that next week we will be installing a brand new, state-of-the-art HVAC unit to service the pool area. The current unit has served us well for over 41 years and is being retired. There are many advantages with this new unit, with the most important being ensuring better air quality.
As a result, we will be CLOSING the following areas for the times indicated:
As you can imagine, this is a fluid timeline as we cannot anticipate any logistical challenges or weather-related obstacles. The closures to the men’s and women’s locker rooms on Monday, December 19th are due to safety concerns as a crane will be on-site removing the old unit and replacing it with the new one. The women’s locker room will reopen at 12pm on Monday, however, the men’s locker room will remain closed until 5pm as it is situated directly below the six-ton HVAC unit and we need to ensure that everything is structurally sound before re-opening the locker room.
As of now, we are unable to ascertain what the water and ambient air temperatures will be in and around the pool on Tuesday and Wednesday so we will be waiting until the dates get closer to decide if we are able to open the pool, steam room, and whirlpool. We will be sure to communicate this via email blast, signage, as well as on our website. *For those on our GMYMCA Dolphins Swim Team, Coach Josh will be sending an email shortly regarding Monday night practice. Please be on the look-out for this important update.
Please be sure to check our website at greatermorristownymca.org or call the Membership Desk for any updates at (973) 267-0704. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and support as we install this new unit.
Best regards,
